The Art of Charles V. Goodhue
Click the image for a full image.

20 Hunking Street

Goodhue watercolor of Newcastle Avenue.

Goodhue painted this view of Livermore Street in Winter. In colder weather he sometimes sat in his car to paint.

The old Italian North End of Portsmouth, captured by Goodhue before urban renewal changed the landscape.

The Old South Meeting House, now the Children's Museum of Portsmouth, is visible in the extreme right of this Goodhue painting, shown from Howard Street. The Old South Meeting House figured prominently in many of Goodhue's paintings. Goodhue used oils and watercolors to paint this view of the church, now the Children's Museum of Portsmouth, from Gates Street.
High Street and the North Street are shown at right. Goodhue began painting scenes of Portsmouth when he moved to the area in 1950.
